Stories

I had battled with addiction on and off for most of adult life and finally decided I needed help and came to the Grace House.

It turned out to be one of the smartest decisions of my life as it saved my life. Grace House is a small treatment centre which in turn means that each individual gets the actual help that they need. You are a name, not a number. At the Grace House, the staff are very knowledgeable and know what they are doing and actually care.

One of the main reasons I chose the Grace House is that part of the program is the ODD JOB SQUAD, in which you get to go out in the community doing odd jobs and giving back by helping others, which in turn helps you to build character, a sense of pride and self worth.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Grace House for helping me get “my House” in order.

How does one put into words the benefits of, and love I have for the program here at Grace House? From the care and attention put forth by the Grace House Staff, to the well structured curriculum currently in place, Kudos to all!

If you are a man desperate for recovery from the chaos of drinking and drug use, Grace House is where you need to be. This is not a “Treatment Facility”, this is a Recovery Home, which has helped me to strive for the good inside me and helped me to know that I am not alone.

As a result of Grace House I feel now that each day is the first day of a new life in recovery, “One Day At A Time.”

Public Statement by the Board of Directors of the Drumheller Society for Recovery (DSFR) also know as “The Grace House”

The Drumheller Society for Recovery, hereinafter referred as DSFR is dedicated to providing rehabilitation and support for men with addictions and to promote sober living and a positive mental health initiative. Our mission is to provide a second chance for those who seek our help. Official news, current events and information can be found on our Website at http://grace-house.ca  or our Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/gracehouseishome.

DSFR is in no way affiliated with the Group known as “the concerned citizens” having a Facebook page “Recovery with Grace” or any persons within that Group.

It has been brought to our attention that this Group of persons have been contacting members of the public as well as members of DSFR via social media electronic means or Canada Post and even visiting businesses and dropping off written materials soliciting support for their Group. Their last communication dated December 12th, 2022, contained statements and minutes of their meeting of November 7th, 2022. This document contains inflammatory, libelous, and defamatory materials and statements as well as statements that potentially violate undertakings the confidentiality of former employees and board members of DSFR.

The DSFR Board of Directors takes these communications very seriously and we will take appropriate action in due course.

Our major funding and licensing partners including AHS and MHSPA, are well aware of the situation. Not only do they support the efforts of the DSFR Staff, Members and Board of Directors, we are advised that they too have a legal team investigating these matters.

DSFR is funded by a combination of provincial funding, community funded initiatives and donations. We rely on these funds for our entire operation, and should any member or other interested persons have any inquiries regarding our operations, please visit our Website and use the “contact us” if you have further questions or concerns.

DSFR is familiar with persons behind the “concerned citizens” Group and we have attempted to work in a cooperative way with this group in the past. The Group is led by former staff members as well as board members who were let go. Clearly their personal objectives do not coincide with those of DSFR.

DSFR values the support of the community and its members, and we appreciate every effort and donation received. Your efforts go a long way to providing the second chance that we hope to provide for our clients.

Your contributions in whichever form can assist a loved one or a family member affected by addiction. Your membership of DSFR allows our efforts to become a reality in providing a second chance for those needing it the most.
